Lobos bring home podium finishes at the 2021 Devil’s Head ISDE

On the hottest day in Oregon's recorded history, June 27, 2021, eight Lobos club members raced the second round of the OMRA XC series, the Mt Scott MC Devil's Head ISDE. Offroad enduro racing is at the heart of our club, with two of our major races each year also being ISDE style events. The best way to learn how to put on amazing is events is to line up to race ourselves. The ISDE style event is one of the more mentally and physically intense race formats, pitting racers against the clock as well as requiring them to have speed and endurance. This year’s race was staged out of Jordan Creek OHV in the Tillamook State Forest. The area is known for incredibly difficult terrain with technical, steep singletrack. The course was over 50 miles long and coupled with temperatures over 100 degrees, this race was one for the history books.

Of the eight racers, four earned podium finishes. Reid Brown won the AA class and overalled the event to be the first person to have won 4 Devil Head trophies. Shane Cheek placed first in the 40 amateur class with fellow club member Mike St Claire taking second. In the 30 amateur class, Ryan Hawkins placed third. Ryan Mees, Jason Dante, Andrew Hutchins, and Lydia Bashaw also raced the event. Considering the brutal heat of the day and the difficulty of racing in the Tillamook State Forest we are proud of each and every one of our members for putting on their helmets and hitting the trails. We also want to thank Mt Scott MC for hosting the event.

The third round of the XC series is our own Lone Wolf ISDE, which will be on September 26, 2021, in Diamond Mill OHV. Registration opens on August 6. We hope to see you there!
